MAKING AN IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITY!
In February 2019, Grace Church was blessed to be awarded a $6500 grant from the Bristol Case Trust Group thanks to the efforts of Bob Dorn who wrote the grant application. The Outreach Team consisting of Bob, Cyndee Williams and Jane Labonte, working with Barb, Kay and Juliana, have begun to make decisions on how to best utilize these funds within our community.
First Allotment: A few weeks ago this message appeared in our inbox: “The Spier Family of Foxborough has issued a Camp Challenge for the third straight year. Every donation made today through July 21st (or until we meet our $25,000 goal) will be matched.” Our outreach team was quick to respond, and I am thrilled to report that we have just presented the Hockomock YMCA with a check for $500, which will help provide lunches for the Y’s day campers, many of whom are on camperships.
Second Allotment: I am equally thrilled to announce that this week Cyndee Williams, accompanied by her grandson Evan, presented $500 worth of Walmart gift cards to No. Attleboro Public Health Nurse, Anne Marie Fleming, who oversees Lenore’s Pantry. This money will be used to help needy families purchase much-needed items for back to school. Each month throughout this summer season, Cyndee and Evan have dropped off the food that is been donated by our parishioners.
I might add that this dynamic duo have been spending their Wednesdays at the Balfour Riverwalk Park in Attleboro, handing out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to the kids who come to play in a lunch program That is sponsored by the Greater Attleboro Interfaith Group.
Third Allotment: A third allotment of $500 has gone to help purchase back-to-school supplies for us to give out at the “Back to School Shuffle”.
This fall the team connected with the new principal of Community School to determine other ways to improve the lives of children in our community.
Truly Grace Church is having an impact on our community.
